Popular pastor and speaker Francis Chan recorded a video in the Basic series (http://basicseries.com/films/holy-spirit.php) that has been popularly received by many. For a short while it was also available for free on the web for anyone to watch it, and again, well received. However, though it is compelling in many ways, ultimately it is deficient in its theology and biblical basis. Pastor Henry seeks to use it to illustrate how Christians must always exercise discernment and care in what they hear regardless of how good or trustworthy (which Pastor Henry believes is true of Chan) the source is.

He is taking Chan's words out of context If you take literally what Francis Chan is saying, then yes, Matthew Henry has a point. But if Chan is saying we should let the Spirit work, it does not mean we should literally do nothing. Even Chan is working hard as well, giving his money away, helping and building up others.
It's the same principle with the other arguments used.

More biblically unsound than anything I have ever heard out of Francis Chan's mouth!

About the spirit I was confused on what he meant about how the receiving of the spirit was just for then? I have experienced and witness many people receiving the spirit and speak in tongues even now so how can he say that was just for then?
