Although Jesus Christ is the rightful king of the universe, this world maintains its grip on the course of human events. With a single word the Lord could intervene, but instead He graciously allows time for people to repent. Even in that future day of judgment, the Great Tribulation (Revelation 7:14), Jesus will provide opportunities for people to turn to Him for salvation. Nevertheless, His judgments on the earth are just and necessary. The first series of judgments, the Seal Judgments, will be followed by another series of seven judgments, the Trumpet Judgments. Each series will intensify the turmoil on earth as Jesus wrestles the control of this world from sinful human hands into His loving and lasting authority. Disastrous events on earth remind us that we depend on Jesus Christ every day for protection, peace, and hope.
