Today we want to look further into 1 Timothy as Paul talks about his own salvation experience. You will notice that here he doesn’t go into the facts of how he was called (on the road to Damascus), but the why. He started his letter charging Timothy to teach no other doctrine and now continues with a look at the why of salvation. He is concerned that there are many who might have a right-looking start, but then they go astray in the way of the Christian life. There were those who said you could be saved by Jesus Christ, but then added that you had to become a Jew and keep the law. If we add anything to salvation that God hasn’t added, we have moved into error. Paul is going to show us how he sees His salvation working itself out.
