John Wesley was explaining the advantages of being a Methodist, and said in all seriousness, "our people die well." Ina discourse to a very large gathering of inquisitive seekers (Luke 12:1-5) Jesus said, in all seriousness, "And I say unto you my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do." he meant it. This is right disposition in the face of lethal hostility--of which we will certainly see more and more of--up close and personal. This remarkable narrative in 2nd Kings can and should condition us believers to embrace the hope that Paul expressed on death row as he proclaimed that "our Savior Jesus Christ has abolished death."
