Scripture: Genesis 11:1-9, 27-32 THE BIBLE'S STORY: The Confusion of Languages I. The Historic Setting of the Tower of Babel II. The Necessary Division of the Tower of Babel III. The Relative Success of the Tower of Babel
This Lord's Day Pastor Randy continues a Reformation Day series on The Basics of Bible History, or THE BIBLE'S STORY, a survey of the major events that shape our understanding of the Scriptures and our place in the the world in which we live! All of history, both within the pages of Scriptures (and without) fits into this unfolding story of Redemption and are on the way to the final conclusion of God's purpose and plan. My basic approach is what we read in the Word we should see on the world.
As we proceed from our study of the account of the Great Flood we come to what we might call an epilogue or followup to the flood. What will life be like in the Flood-Cleansed World? Essentially, we saw that the division of mankind is between the covenant line (the faithful who knew and worshipped the Lord) and the rest of mankind. This morning we will see further refining of God's provision for His People. It was and is God's will that man be spread over the face of the earth, it fill and have dominion over it. The building of the Tower of Babel and keeping mankind together was the opposite of God's will.
