Last week we heard Paul urge us how to walk - with all humility, gentleness, patience and love, and eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit. This week, from Ephesians 4:17, we hear now we are not to walk - not with a hard heart, sensuality, greed and impurity. Like a wise parent or teacher though, Paul doesn't only tell us what NOT to do, he instructs us clearly on what TO do instead. This instruction is a great gift to the church. For example, the thief is no longer to steal, but to do honest work and to be generous. This walk of the church is ultimately to be a walk of love, modelled on the love of our Saviour and Lord himself, in whose likeness we have been made.
