It is not easy to discern what is relevant or not. Some of it is important. Some of it is interesting. Some of it is just plain irritating. All of it has a degree of influence upon us, one way or another.
Among these many voices the writer of Hebrews urges us to pay much closer attention to one voice in particular. He encourages us to tune into what God has said to us - by his Son! That God speaks to us is an act of grace in itself. If we don't listen, we will find ourselves drifting further and further away from him. God has spoken his full and final word to us by his Son. So, 'Listen up!' This is a word worth hearing. A word we must hear. The word of salvation spoken by the Son of God. That's what we are told from the outset as we begin preaching through the Letter to the Hebrews.
