God's program for the nation of Israel is brought to completion in what the Bible identifies as "the seventieth week of Daniel." A key event during this final phase is the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. Once rebuilt, the Old Testament sacrificial system will be reinstituted until the mid point of the Tribulation period.
This will be the third temple erected on the area known as the temple mount. After the tribulation there will be yet another known as the millennial temple as described in Ezekiel 40-48.
As chapter eleven opens up, forty-two months remain in “the seventieth week of Daniel.” Measurements are being taken of the temple and “the people who worship there,” the Jews. Measuring seems to indicate God is evaluating things and marking things out for His purposes. Left unmeasured is the outer court as well as the city of Jerusalem, which will be left to Gentile domination through these forty-two months.
The “times of the Gentiles” includes the time from the Babylonian conquest until the end of the Tribulation period. The “fullness of the Gentiles” is in essence, the church age lasting until the rapture.
