Three main emphases are repeated in the conclusion from the opening verses of the book tying together what has been revealed. These include: 1. The genuineness of the prophecy of the book as being the Word of God that cannot be changed in any way. 2. The imminence of the return of Jesus Christ. 3. The clear contrast between the believer and the unbeliever with there still being a gracious offer of forgiveness and eternal life with God.
The Revelation was given to believers to give an understanding about what is to take place in the prophetic plan of God. The message is to be heeded while living today in anticipation of what has been revealed that is to happen at God's appointed, yet unrevealed time. This revelation is to have a direct and immediate influence on the character and conduct of believers that is evident in both life and lifestyle.
A last statement is made regarding the fact that God will judge every person and all judgments will be based on works because works reveal the heart of man. As a result, every person, believer and unbeliever will get what they have earned by their deeds. Believers will receive rewards that will prove to be eternally significant and unbelievers will receive varying degrees of punishment, also eternally significant and in duration.
A final reminder that the church is to join in offering the invitation of the gospel calling people to come to Christ to be saved and receive the free gift of eternal life!
