This sermon is about Christ sermon in Nazareth where He grew up. He came home with an annointing He did not possess when he left. Things did not go well for the hometown folks. They judged badly being self-defeated by misleading circumstances: they violated the vitally important rule of forming our estimate after fleshly criteria--"Henceforth no we no m an after the flesh" (II Corinthians 5:16). It is for this reason that God passes people by: they judge after appearances, according to the world's criteria. Though He was and is annointed to bring people a liberating Jubilee, He passed the people in Nazareth by--doing nothing for them. On the other hand, the gospel of Luke introduces us to many of the great physician's patients--what deliveranceds, what a way making, chain breaking, prison shaking Savior the Lord Jesus Christ was and is. Every Sunday throughout the land there those who hear and receive and are greatly blessed right there in their churches, and yet in those same assemblies there are people who the great physians passes by and does nothing for them. You need not be passed by, the great physician is still making house calls!
