And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. - Acts 2:42-47
The incredible news of Peter's message on Pentecost certainly created a stir. The conviction of their sin had brought many to believe His Word, and look to the Messiah, while the majority, as was common to their history, rejected the very God, who delivered them from their enemies. By and large, the very same people continue to to itreject Him to this day.
Those who received the message responded to it, because they had truly received the message. Though we have a Free Grace message, our response of faith should (but not always) be in the same manner.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. - 1 John 4:18-19
