While Paul was in Rome, the sufferings that he endured even from brethren of Jesus Christ, caused those with him to become more confident to preach Christ. He hopes for the same to be worked in the Philippians as well. Our sufferings, on account of Jesus Christ, rather than discouraging others from the ministry of the gospel, will move others to become more bold to speak the Word. But this result is true of only those whose motivation is pure before the Lord. Are we serving from a motivation of love for the Lord and His people?
