Misplaced Focus… Missing the Gospel and the Group
When we focus our efforts on fixing the group — we inevitably fail to win the groupie. The group and their agenda is not ours to fix.
We're already going places and doing things in everyday life. When we go and do we are to now go with purpose and a clear priority. We go, and in our going, we make it a priority to make disciples, one by one. We're not going, as we go, to make disciples of groups but of people. If our aim becomes the group or groups we'll miss the groupies following the groups.
But focusing on them (the group, whoever they may be) will diminish and distort the assignment you've been given to live, love and bring the good news of the kingdom to them in their way of life. Remember, if our Father didn't plant [it], [it] ain't gonna make it. It will, along with all others He hasn't planted, will be uprooted (Matthew 15:13).
Complaining and circulating the bad news of the kingdoms of men and their traditions will not introduce a soul to the King of glory and grace. Knowing more about the thrust and threats of the groups and their traditions tips the focus toward them and fails to manifest an authentic and all consuming passion, pleasure and purpose for Jesus and His message.
Truth, measured out in grace and spoken in love... ALWAYS confronts, offends, convicts, challenges, creates a crisis of convictions, BEFORE it ever illuminates darkness, tears down strongholds, disassembles lies, overthrows deception, converts, transforms and sets people free from the lies and deception they once believed to be true.
