A good reputation, the Scripture says, is more valuable than gold or silver. If our reputation is so valuable, how much more ought the reputation of God be treasured! “I will sanctify My great name… which has been profaned among the nations,” says the Lord GOD, "… when I am hallowed in you before their eyes,” (Ezekiel 36:23, NKJV). The value of God’s name among the nations is very much in mind as Paul instructs Christian slaves to honor their masters, rather than rebel. "Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed” (1 Timothy 6:1, NKJV). In this sermon, we’ll begin a look at 1 Timothy 6 with “Honoring God’s reputation.”
