Mark is the gospel of the Servant. He is the perfect servant of Jehovah. It is also a gospel of miracles as these are the deeds of the servant. The miracles of Christ are true and literal events that are filled with spiritual significance. There are three things that speak to us of gospel truth in the miracle of the healing of the leper:
1. He had a condition that was pathetic. He is a leper. The condition resulted in defilement. The condition resulted deformity. The condition resulted in death. It is a clear picture of human sin.
2. He had a confession that was powerful. The confession: if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. This was a confession of humility. This was a confession of helplessness. This was a confession of hope.
3. He had a cure that was provided. Jesus was moved with compassion. The willingness of Christ (I will; be though clean) The work of Christ (Christ put forth his hand) The word of Christ (as soon as he had spoken)
