INTRO: Today we commemorate the birthday of the Church. Acts 2:1-13 was read for us earlier. Here we find that the Church was born on Israelâs feast day of Pentecost. Let me just read verses 1-4 again: 1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Several weeks ago I went into the Northwest Territories with one of my sons-in-law. He is in partnership in a business there. I had wanted to go up to fish for Arctic Greyling. Well, the day before we went fishing I had gotten into a discussion with a man in their town. He is a member of the United Church of God, of which at least one family and maybe more, in our community is a member as well. And they keep the Sabbath and the feast days of Israel and so that created a lot of discussion between us.
