The apostle Paul had previously boasted to the Christians in Macedonia about the willingness of the Christians in Corinth to minister financially to those in Jerusalem who were in financial straits. Macedonia was impoverished and yet begged to share in this ministry and gave beyond their ability. Corinth never actually got around to completing the collection they had begun earlier, so Paul sent Titus and the brothers to help in getting their offering ready.
