A Price to Pay
Be cautious when someone rushes and pressures you to respond right now, especially, when they repeatedly oversell their product and do most of the talking to avoid some obvious questions that would reveal their hidden agenda.
Had Joshua, and his team of leaders, simply asked the Gibeonites a few commonsense questions about who they actual were and what country or particular city they were from, and who is their king or leader, they probably would have seen through some of their deception.
But because Joshua, and the men surrounding him, had their eyes set on the goods that the Gibeonites brought to appease their flesh, they missed all the obvious indicators of a fake and neglected to ask questions.
But set all that aside... had they been diligent to inquire of the Lord, yes, as a principle of priority, they would have acknowledged Him, as He requires of all His people, and He, no doubt, would have exposed these bottom feeders for who they really were.
Yesterday's triumph in Ai—cannot REPLACE—a fresh word of truth and grace for today's victory with those who attempt to dupe us into believing the lie.
