Today's media portrays a woman's career as being exciting, fulfilling, stimulating, and challenging, whereas motherhood is portrayed as dull, boring, and unfulfilling. Some stay-at-home moms today view themselves as professional moms, devoting as much energy in developing as moms as they would to a career. But God raises motherhood even higher that a full time profession to that of a ministry. Motherhood is a ministry of investing one's life in the lives of one's children and grandchildren. Eunice invested her life in the spiritual training of her son, Timothy. She had an authentic, genuine faith in Christ which was passed on to her son, Timothy. She did so by first modeling the truth and then teaching him God's Word. Christian education begins at home where trust is already built in the relationship, where training can begin at a very early age, and where it can be related to life. The challenge for all is to develop a genuine, authentic faith which we can pass on to our children and grandchildren. What a great ministry we can have to impact the next generation for Christ. |
