The word suffer here literally means to “Experience” v. 4 Did you experience all of these things in vain, if it was in vain. Is your salvation experience real?
1. The Work of Christ Provides a Personal Testimony v1
a. v. 1 says “before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified”
2. Look at v. 2-4 An Internal Testimony
a. How did the Spirit come to you? Was it by what your efforts? Did you receive the Spirit by Law Keeping?
3. In conclusion look at v. 5 shows us An External testimony
a. Not only do believers have a relationship with the Son and the HS but believers have a relationship with the Father.
b. This wasn't a new idea. That is why Paul added v.6 “Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness”
c. Abandon your ideas of self worth and earning merit. Live free in Christ. Don't turn back to Egypt back to Captivity.
i. The Gospel is at stake in our Church. Drop the Legalistic Pharisaical Attitudes.
ii. If your a believer here you understand these truths. Defend them and live by them.
