We started this lesson with talking about real Salvation. What does it mean to be born again? This term comes from John 3 and is something that God does to us. It is a change where God imparts life to the spiritually dead through His Spirit. They are also sealed and then progressively taught by the Holy Spirit of God. They have been grafted into the Spiritual Life of the God head. We now abide in Christ, are nourished by Christ, taught by the Spirit through the Word. Yet the disciples still had to endure through much in this life. The crucifixion was coming, so Christ gives them this hope in vs. 22. Therefore, you now have sorrow, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. What a blessing to know a God, who is a ruler of life and death. Far from His death being the ultimate end, it was under His control, powerless over Him, and under a sentence to be destroyed. They would come to see that and know it. That is worth celebrating. It doesn't mean it is easy to trust Him, but possible. Trust is for the times when we can't see. We can than hold on to Jesus, knowing His love for us, His power of life and death, His wisdom and trust. And on the other side is Joy that no one will take. That is Joy for us now as we look at God's love for us, His power over death, and His victory. Let’s look at this Joy and try to understand what Jesus has done for us.
