Last week we looked at Christ telling His disciples about the coming of the Holy Spirit. We asked two questions: what is real salvation like? and What does it really mean to be born again? These are Jesus's term for an experience where we meet with God and become one of His children. It is what will get us into heaven according John 3:3. There is a real experience and a false one. God Himself is involved in the Salvation of a soul through the Holy Spirit. He convicts man of Sin, shows His righteousness, and testifies that God is going to Judge the world for its sin. As we humbly bow to God, He then uses the Holy Spirit to teach us. It is all a work of God in our lives, not just a prayer we pray. We are sealed and kept by the Spirit, making us a new creation. Things change, attitudes, actions, as we are progressively changed into the image of Christ. Now Jesus turns to His nearing departure, and gives the disciples some encouragement that they totally missed. Let's look together at this encouragement as we need it as well.
