Every fall we enter a recurring period of time known as the 'Flu Season'. For it is as the weather gets cold, people congregate indoors, school is back in session that the strains of influenza are passed from around. Perhaps due to a milder winter, this year's flu season was also mild. But knowing that there are certain seasons when we are more susceptible to the flu enables us to be prepared. Just as there are seasons for disease, so there are seasons for temptations-- times when we are particular vulnerable to the attack of our enemy. In this sermon we explore three more: when we are full of self-confidence; when we are successful or experiencing prosperity; and when there are unmet physical needs --whether food, drink, sleep, or sex. It is then that we are vulnerable to being attacked. But the truth is: Any day, any time we may be attacked-- so we need to be sober, be vigilant because our adversary the devil is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour-- whom we must resist steadfast in our faith.
