One of the most controversial verses in all of Scripture. This verse is seen by some as dealing with who God chooses, by others as how God chooses and some view it as why God chooses. This verse describes the 'how' and the \why' but not the 'who'. God chose that the pathway to salvation was through Christ and Christ alone. He knew before the foundation of the earth who would accept the gospel of Jesus Christ and who would reject it. That does not say that God chose some and did not choose others. He wants all to come to repentance. Does God view us on the basis of what we would do or on the basis of what He knew? He saw us as what He knew but God had to provide a way through which we could know Him.
