The Book of Ephesians forms the foundation for all of the christian life. Written by Paul while in prison to the church of Ephesus, who were faithful in an atmosphere of unfaithfulness all around them. He describes what it means to be faithful and at rest in Christ Jesus. Paul writes as a willing servant and with an affection for the church of Ephesus. He defends his apostleship and the authority under which he writes this letter. We see that the person of the Holy Spirit is greatly magnified in Ephesians. Christ's character of holiness works in and through us by the Holy Spirit. Importantly, Paul's salutation of "Grace and Peace" sets up the rest of this book.
