I want to set before you the truth that you, as a disciple, can promote this in the lives of others by your setting a good example. The way that believers promote the right kind of rest and refreshment in the lives of people around them is to have a right view of work in relation to their own life. The best way to have a right view of work is by living out a sincere, Christ-like obedience to the 4th commandment. Yes, you heard me right. It is by living out a sincere Christ-like obedience to the 4th commandment: “Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy.” 1st of all, I would like us to look at this commandment from the standpoint of the Creation Ordinance. And then 2nd – I would like us to take a look at the Sabbath in relation to the Old Testament nation of Israel. And then 3rd – I would like us to look at the Sabbath in New Testament times from the standpoint of what Christ has done in the New Covenant.
