Daniel doesn't respond to Nebuchadnezzar killing all of the wise men of Babylon with anger or resentment even though he is being treated unjustly. Instead, he answers wisely and questions the haste of Nebuchadnezzar and then asks for more time. It is interesting that Daniel is granted the time from the king, even after he accused the other Babylonian wise men of stalling for time. The attitude with which you ask for something can greatly affect the answer. Daniel joins with his companions to call upon the name of the Lord asking Him for mercy. Just as the other Babylonian wise men knew that the sources could never tell the dream, Daniel knew that if God chose to show mercy that God could reveal both the contents of the dream and the interpretation thereof. In this case, God chose to show mercy to Daniel and revealed through a night vision the dream and the interpretation. Daniel responded in the righteous way by blessing God and speaking praises to His name. God proved Himself to not be like the vain gods that the others worshiped, but the God who is sovereign over all things and there is nothing hid from His sight.
