Joshua was prepared and trained for the ministry God had for him over a period of forty years. He assumed his role of leadership of the nation of Israel at the age of eighty-six. Over the course of his training he had demonstrated himself to be faithful, reliable, and responsible. Joshua while having trained under Moses and following after Moses was not called to be another Moses. He was his own man and commissioned by God with the charge to lead the nation of Israel into the promised land being strong and courageous. To be strong and courageous was and is to be committed to God and His word so as to do all that God has said and exactly as He has said. Faithfulness in following God would be a life of trust and obedience during which God would prove His faithfulness as He could bless the obedience and courage of Joshua and the nation following him.
