Esther is undoubtedly one of the least read books in the Bible. You can probably guess why. It is puzzling since God is never mentioned, nor are God's commandments ever mentioned, nor sacrifice, temple or priest. So what did the Holy Spirit have in mind for Jews of former ages to get out of this book, and what did He have in mind for Chritians to take from this curious scripture? He wants us to know that "an old war continues. He wants us to know that the Jews are in great danger. He wants us to remember that sin is a mystery--"the mystery of iniquity (lawlessness) doth already work." He wants us to magnify the gospel--"the glorious gospel of Christ."
