LIKE UNTO: John's wording reflects the understanding from John's first-century perspective. The one he saw was "like unto the Son of man," but this does not mean it was not Jesus whom he saw. ONE LIKE UNTO THE SON OF MAN (Description): The "Son of man" is the Jewish title for Jesus Christ in the gospels. There are several similarities between this description of Christ and the one provided in Daniel. These descriptive similarities help us understand and accept the personage of Daniel chapter 10 as an appearance of Christ. When Christ became a man, God clothed Himself with flesh. Daniel 10:5-6 Son of man refers to Christ in His humanity, but He has been glorified this time. Peter referred to two distinct views of Christ. Peter mentioned Christ's past sufferings and His future glory. Christ's past and future: "the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow (1 Peter 1:11). Christ's future exaltation does not resemble His past humiliation. "And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto "the Son of man" (Revelation 1:13). 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Christ was the Son of Man on earth as the Prophet. He is the Son of Man in Heaven as the High Priest. He will be returning as the Son of Man to reign as King. He can execute judgment as the Son of Man (John 5:27).
