The familiar expression "by faith" appears five times in our seven verses about Moses (vv. 23, 24, 27, 28, 29). Each one emphasizes an important truth about the faith of Moses. Each one emphasizes that though Judaism associates Moses with the Law, this OT hero (like Father Abraham before him) was first and foremost a man of faith. It was Moses' faith that gained God's approval (v.2); it was Moses' faith that pleased God (v.6).
There is a lot you might say about Moses' faith! After all, Scripture follows his 120 year life from his birth by the bulrushes of the Nile to his divine burial on the lofty heights of Mt. Nebo. But the focus here in Hebrews 11 is that Moses left the pleasures of the world to join the people of God; and not just to join them, but to lead them; and so Moses made his stand and left his mark - by faith.
By faith, Moses renounced Egyptian privilege and led God's people out of Egyptian bondage: i.) Moses left the pleasures of Pharaoh's palace (vv. 23-27); ii.) Moses led the slaves out of Pharaoh's brickyards (vv. 28-29).
