Religion, religion, religion… What do you look to that declares your salvation? Many people, in the past, as well as now, would look to what they have accomplished, rather than what Jesus Christ has accomplished for them.
Two such things that people look to as a line of demarcation is the rite of circumcision and the rite of baptism. Today, we will see that both have been fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ. In the New Testament Church two ordinances are customarily observed (because they were observed in the early church), Baptism and Communion. These are observed as a remembrance of what Christ has done. We are thankful for what He did! “Do this in remembrance of me...”
All eyes are on Jesus. Because He fulfilled the Law for us. He was baptized for us. He lives today for us. The observances are there to point us to the finished work of Christ.
