Biblical love is to characterize how the believer regards and treats everyone. Manifesting this love then becomes a foundational principle for the believer's behavior whose primary relationship in life is with God.
This love is very different from the world's concept of love in that it is generated by the Spirit of God and is neither self-centered nor self-seeking. The pattern for this love is that which was demonstrated by Jesus Christ during his life and by his sacrificial death. This love is driven by the Spirit of God and guided by the Word of God rather than by emotions and feelings. Emotions follow the actions of this love that is motivated by a desire to please God and be obedient to Him more than self. In this way, obedience then becomes an identifying mark of the one who loves God. When this love is demonstrated, the fullness of God's moral requirements will be fulfilled.
