In Acts 6 this week we learn there is no such thing as a 'small' or 'menial' task in the household of God. Those who serve in 'administrative' or 'functional' roles are still expected to be 'full of the Spirit and of wisdom.' What's more, as we see in the example of Stephen, they are just as much on the front-line when it comes to the gospel and those who oppose it. And whilst the level of persecution is about to increase a notch or three, the right and prayerful appointing of those who serve the church also results in an increase of the word of God and those who become obedient to the faith. May the same be true for us as we seek to be obedient to the Lord in life and faith.
