As Pastor Stoos continues his series on the Gospel of Luke, he uses Mother's Day to focus on the short account where Jesus heals the mother of Peter's wife. Launching from there he shows, with a brief survey of the women presented just by Luke, how we are to love and serve Jesus! Beginning with Mary & Elizabeth we see how lives of simple and faithful obedience bring joy to the Saints. We see our Lord's special care and compassion for widows with Anna, the widow of Nain, the widow confronting the unjust judge and she who gave all with her two pennies at the Temple. He shows how contrary to the feminist view, women are presented as the more faithful ones, from Advent through the 1st Easter morning! Pastor Stoos shows how the mother of Peter's wife and the faithful women who traveled with Jesus, including Mary Magdalene, Joanna and Susanna, teach us the we serve Jesus when we do the simple tasks that are before us wherever God have placed us. This will often be changing a diaper, making a meal or the many other tasks involved in the process of eating and raising children. He shows that Jesus does not need this service, but chooses to accept it as those works He created these Saints in himself to do! As we marvel at the Grace of our salvation we should see that He has done the same for us: Ephesians 2:8-10.
