Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ: Parents often have to fight with their children to get them to do what is right. After all, young people know more than everyone else and their "parents are usually uneducated and don't understand how the real-world works!"
If parents didn't care, they would leave those "ultra-smart" young people alone and let them fall on their faces.
But they love them…and so they keep battling with them.
But there comes a time when parents have had enough. They have fought enough with their children so they stop!
They show them the door.
That was what God faced as he looked at his covenant people. He was patient for a long time.
He worked hard for them to see the blessings of doing things his way! But they rebelled – strongly rebelled – and lived for their own lusts and popularity.
So God had had enough and he had to deal with them.
