Light makes it possible to see; without light everyone is blind and CANNOT see. But if there is light and a person cannot perceive it, he is as blind as he would be if there were no light at all. Jesus said that as long as He was in the world, He was the light of the world. Then He said that we who follow him are the light of the world. We cannot give people sight, but we can give them light. "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is heaven..." As long as there is light in the world Jesus can give sight to those who are blind and do not see.
