This week we conclude our series through Ezekiel by looking at the final vision in Chapters 40-48. There are various ways of understanding this vision but what is clear in these final chapters is the Lord's desire to have a people of his own, and a place where he will dwell with him in all his glory as they worship him according to his will. This has always been the Lord's intent. He has always worked towards this end and shows here that he will provide all that is necessary for this to come to pass. In the vision, from the glory-filled temple, flows an ever-increasing river. And wherever this river flows there is abundant life and healing and fruit. How good is that!? The renewal of the Lord's covenant people earlier in Ezekiel, and the renewal of creation shown here is nothing other than a wonderful work of divine grace. The creation itself waits with eager longing for the fulfilment of this prophetic vision, knowing that it will only come when our redemption and adoption in Christ is consummated at his return (Romans 8:23). Until then, we too wait, in hope, with eager anticipation. Don't we!? But we need not delay our worship. All has been provided, even now. For it is in this hope than we were saved and have been sealed with the promised Spirit.
