Someone can replace you on the job... but nobody should have to replace you and your presence in your home. There's someone out there that can do what you do at work. We're all replaceable... but no one should ever have to replace you and your love for your spouse.
Now that doesn't mean you're to be irresponsible with what you do. No, it simply means you're replaceable. Do what you do and do it well... but you, like the rest of us, need balance in life and with life. The balance of life is found in living well, loving well and laboring well in the midst of troubles, trials, test and triumphs (Ecclesiastes 9). Those who learning how to wisely balance life, love and labor will be those who are learning how to lead and lead well. Who do they lead? Those closest to them... those in their homes, faith family, community and work.
"Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your brief life..." (Ecclesiastes 9:9).
Here's another way of transliterating Ecclesiastes 9:9: "Passionately and purposely see about the needs of your wife, whom you love, all the days of your brief time upon this earth."
"...as the bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so shall your God rejoice [and celebrate with songs] over you." (Isaiah 62:5 ; Zephaniah 3:17)
Chew on these things... and do it again and again!
