Jesus Christ's death and resurrection was a fulfillment of prophecy foretold by God through Isaiah the prophet about 700 years before any of events occurred. His death and resurrection were all a part of God's plan of providing salvation for sinful man.
The prophecy given through Isaiah focuses on the work of Jesus Christ as the Servant of God, the Messiah. As a result of His work, He will be highly exulted as the ultimate victor when His work is done. The One who would bring such great victory would suffer more than any other person. The abuse He was to bear would distort and disfigure Him more than any other man. The emotional and spiritual stress He endured were greater than anyone has every withstood.
The result of His work was also foretold in its provision of salvation for all nations. The effect of His death would be applicable to all people through all time.
When all is said and done, the One rejected will be the One who reigns over all, and all will bow before Him in awe.
