In this passage, Jesus’ disciples went up against a demon and could not cast it out, even though they had cast demons out before. The church, overall, has not trained people on how to deal with demons. Satan and demons are predators and they do not pursue the strong. Instead, they prey on the weak, elderly, infirmed, etc. Demons are real and are not a myth. If we don’t recognize the reality of their existence, it will make us more susceptible to the evils around us. Even though the disciples could not cast the demon out, Jesus could. Everything in the Bible is true. If we know Jesus, our goal should be to bring people to Jesus. We should not wait for a Sunday service to bring people to Jesus. We should introduce them to Jesus right where they are. If we turn our problems over to Jesus, many times our problems will get worse before they get better. What is the object of our faith? If our faith is in faith, that will not accomplish anything. God will give us dreams and passions out of our obedience to Him and for His glory. The most important thing about your faith is to ask, “What is your faith in?” Jesus said to pray the way He prays the Lord’s prayer. We must petition Him the way God wants us to ask. Jesus is Lord, therefore faith in Him is the key.
