Jesus, in obedience to His Father, chose twelve disciples. Out of those twelve, He chose three. Many people focus on what they do not have rather than realizing what they already have. God knows all things about all people and He knows what is best. If we received what we deserved, we would be completely destroyed. God does not want people who operate entirely on the flesh. Instead, God wants people who depend entirely on Him. When Peter suggested building shelters for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah, Peter was placing Jesus on the same level as the other two men. That was not okay. The specific roles that these men played, Moses in representing the law, and Elijah in representing the prophets, ultimately pointed to Jesus, not to suggest that they were all on the same level. We are to listen to Jesus. Jesus is not just one way to God, but rather the only way to God. Any religious leader who tries to make us think that we need them instead of Jesus is lying to us. If we want to know the truth, we must read the Bible and believe what it says. We can understand the Bible and we do not need to make excuses about it. If we want to know what to do, then we must listen to Jesus. There is much that we do not understand, however, there is much that we do and can understand.
