Text: Philippians 2:25-30 | Speaker: Levi Bakerink | Description: After Paul shows the Philippians the example of Christ-like humility in his disciple Timothy, he then shifts to talk about their dear brother Epaphroditus. He was a member of the Philippian church and was the one entrusted to bring an update and a gift to Paul in prison. Paul is sending him back to them to deliver this letter, but even more so to put him forward as an example of Christ-like obedience. The Philippians are to honor him, Paul says, "because he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life" (2:30). He is a model for them to follow, but more than that, an example that points beyond himself to the One who not only risked His life, but willingly gave it up in perfect obedience for the salvation of His people.
