THE OLDEST FATHERS FATHER Genesis 5:22-27 The first prophet in Scripture was Enoch. The Scriptures tell us twice that Enoch walked with God. Enoch lived 365 years and was translated or raptured, not seeing death. As Enoch walked with God 365 years, we should walk with God 365 days a year.In the Septuagint, the word for walk is euarestos. This word is translated acceptable in Romans 12:1, 2. Enoch was an example of this truth as he did present his body a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God. Enoch was surrounded by gloom, yet had saving grace. He was characterized by godliness and went into sudden glory. When Enoch was sixty-five, he had a son and named him Methuselah. God may have revealed to Enoch the judgment to come because of the meaning of Methuselah's name. Methuselah means when he dies, judgment or it shall be sent. Methuselah was the oldest man to ever live, being 969 years old. This was thirty-one years short of a millennium. God was giving man as much time as possible to turn to Him. The Flood came the year that Methuselah died. This was 1,656 years after Creation based on Ussher's computations.
