The perspective of the believer and unbeliever on world events is very different. The unbeliever's level of peace and security rises and falls as the economy, the environment, the political scene, and so forth either causes problems, or seems to be resolved. The believer understands the problem in the world is sin, only God has the solution, and judgment is coming upon all who will not repent. Even being foretold of coming judgment does not change the heart of most.
In the revelation given to John of forthcoming judgment upon the earth, the “sixth seal” contains terrors that look like “natural” disasters but it the God of, and over all creation, bringing them about. As God's love is immeasurable so too is His wrath against sin. Reject His love, demonstrated by the sending of His Son as the only sacrifice that satisfied His wrath against sin, and there is no escape of the wrath of His judgment. Rich, poor, powerful, and weak who do not repent will all be reduced to terror as disaster after disaster in the forms of meteorites, earthquakes, and other cataclysmic activity comes upon the earth. To those who will repent even as judgment begins, He will yet save as His mercy endures forever.
