We gather together on this Resurrection Sunday to celebrate the truth that the Son of God has emerged from the tomb. We gathered in this place just two days ago, on Good Friday, and meditated together on Jesus' agony and bitter passion. We saw how much sin-bearing hurt Him — yet He still did it for us! Thank God that death did not have the last word. Though Jesus was hurt horribly by the punishment due to our sin, tortured to death on a cross and crushed under the weight of sins not His own, yet He came back to life. Death could not keep Him. And today, we are going to look at the classic NT passage on the resurrection. I wish we had time to take in this whole chapter in a single sermon, but you are probably just as happy that I am not attempting to preach 58 verses of Paul in a single sitting this morning. In any case, we will see here at the beginning of 1 Cor 15 the truth that the evidence is overwhelming: Jesus is alive — and that further implies that you need to believe in Him, obey Him, and work for Him.
