The Lord Jesus here in His ministry was beginning His journey towards Jerusalem where He would be placed on a cross and where He would die for the sins of humanity.

Jerusalem was a Blessed City because God sent His Prophets to that City. Not only did God send His prophets but God sent His Son to that City. God Himself in the person of Jesus taught in the Temple area.
Unfortunately God's people killed and stoned the prophets that were sent to them and they rejected Jesus as well. He came unto His own and His own received Him not.
