The Rich Man and Lazarus: At the start of this account we see two men on earth living in contrasting circumstances. One of them was fabulously rich and the other was desperately poor.
Now I want you to notice that both men in this account were fully conscious after death and they were now both dwelling also in different places.
Death is not the end of conscious existence. When people die they live on. We are eternal beings. We are made up of body, soul and spirit. When the body dies you live on. When the body dies you are conscious.
When you die you will either go to a place of comfort which we call Heaven or you will go to a place of torment which is known as Hades where you will await to have your final judgement before the Great White Throne (Rev 20:11-15) and then you will be cast into The Lake of Fire.
