This happens again in Exodus 32:1 just before they corrupt themselves with the molten calf. b. If Moses accepted the credit, he would have received the blame for the perceived difficulties. The people falsely accused Moses of desiring to kill them, their children, and their cattle. Consider the following truths concerning murmuring and complaining. 1) Private murmuring breeds certain unbelief (Psalm 106:25). 2) Murmuring can cause death (1 Corinthians 10:10). 3) Questioning God’s word leads to murmuring (John 6:60-61). 4) Murmuring against the things of God is murmuring against God Himself (Jude 1:15-16). 5) Murmuring and complaining troubles the soul and overwhelms the spirit (Psalm 77:3). 6) Complaining breeds exaggeration and lies (Numbers 16:41). 7) Complaining causes paranoia (Deuteronomy 1:27). 8) Complaining displeases the Lord; He sent fire to consume them (Numbers 11:1).
