God's full and final provision for dealing with man's sin was revealed in, and by, the God-man Jesus Christ. Physical death is the temporary transition for every person who has been created with an eternal existence into one of two places for that eternal existence. By, and because of, what Jesus Christ has accomplished there is the free gift of eternal life thereby restoring fellowship with God as intended by the divine design of creation is offered to all. Those who repent and trust in the provision made through Christ receive the offer not by works but by faith in the work Christ brought to completion for their eternal salvation.
